Like many cities in Arizona, the Chandler recycling program does not accept plastic bags. Recyclables are supposed to be left loose, so there is no reason for any trash bags to be in the recycle bin.
Why doesn’t Chandler recycle plastic bags?
- Plastic bags can contain contaminates.
- There is no local market for the bags.
- Bags can cause recycling equipment break downs.
- They make sorting recyclables unsafe for city employees.
So what do you do with the plastic bags?
- If you cant reuse them then go to bag central station to find a local grocer that does recycle the bags.
- Reuse – Plastic bags can be used to secure dirty diapers and other wet trash.
- The City of Chandler has 150 dog waste stations in 52 Chandler parks that could use your plastic grocery bags. You can donate your bags at the Chandler Community Center, located at 125 E. Commonwealth Avenue, or take them directly to your neighborhood park.
Finally, consider reducing your need for plastic bags. Bring your own nylon bags to the grocery store. You don’t have to bring enough for all of your groceries. Every little bit helps. Don’t get frustrated with Going Green. Contact the City of Chandler to learn more about Chandler’s recycling program and what you can do to help.

Not only do dog poop bags come in handy when you’re on a walk, but they can also be convenient for cleaning up in your own yard.
Having a dog waste bag can make cleaning up easy, no matter what the poop is like. It’s as simple as putting your hand in the bag and picking it up with your protected hand, then tying the bag shut and tossing it in your garbage.
